To say the Miami Heat have a hole at small forward after LeBron James’ departure would be an understatement, but a factual one.
There is no replacing James, but Miami is moving quickly to address to position.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the Heat are offering for former Bulls and Cavaliers wing $10 million per season for what is likely two years.
@WojYahooNBA: Miami’s pursuing free agent Luol Deng with an offer near $10 million per season, on a short deal, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.
Deng is a plus wing defender and has a decent shot from the corner. He is known as a good influence in the locker room, too.
Pat Riley pursued Deng even before James departed for Cleveland, viewing him as an option to come off the bench and bolster the team’a depth.
Now, Deng has an opportunity to start in Miami.
