Dwyane Wade won’t be playing alongside LeBron James anymore, which means that the two will get to go against each other once again in what were very entertaining battles before the two joined up for four-straight Finals appearances.
During a recent media session at his sports camp in Illinois, Wade was asked who he mosts looks forward to playing against during the season.
It should come as no surprise that Wade would look forward to playing his pal LeBron, but how he said it may be viewed as a bit of a dig at his former teammate.
“Well, it used to be Kobe Bryant… the second best all time…. now, I have a new favorite player to play against… my former teammate, LeBron James.”
My immediate reaction to this was that Wade really meant “second best shooting guard of all time” meaning that Kobe is just behind Jordan (with Wade probably viewing himself as third) and not that he was taking a shot at James.
However, Wade has been trolling James in social media a bit, including posting pictures of bike riding in Miami and reppig a Lyfe Brand T-shirt that reads “My City. My Home. My Hous3.” on Instagram.
The battles between Wade and Kobe were highly entertaining. With both on rough legs, now, those games could look more like two old guys taking it up on the pickup courts for old time’s sake.
There is no doubt, though, that the eventual game between the Heat and Cavs, between Wade and James, will be looked forward to by every NBA fan.
