Chris Bosh Officially Re-signs With Miami Heat

The Miami Heat has officially re-signed Chris Bosh, as per the team. While official terms of the contract were not made public, it is largely known that he agreed to a maximum value contract for five years and approximately $118 million.

The Heat made the transaction public via Twitter early Wednesday afternoon:

A view of Bosh actually signing the contract was sent out immediately afterward:

Team president Pat Riley issued a statement on the move. Here’s an excerpt:

“Chris Bosh is a two-time NBA champion and one of the most versatile big men in the league. His unique skillset makes him one of the best players in the game today. I’ve always felt he was committed to this organization, this staff and this city. I think he’s going to have the opportunity of a lifetime leading this team next season and having the nine-time NBA All-Star back in the fold was a big key for us. We are very blessed to have him.”

Bosh is expected to be the focal point of Miami’s offense, utilizing his versatility and ever-evolving skills to create mismatches at the center position.

As Bosh told ESPN after initially agreeing to the contract, he believes he’s ready to lead the team and continue to play for a championship:

“I feel I’m a much better leader and a much better player, and I’m much more prepared for the role, the all-around role, that they need me to fill. That’s exciting for me to really challenge myself and step up to the plate next year and make sure we get it done, no matter what happens.”

That is certainly an encouraging attitude for Heat fans to hear.
