Free agent Michael Beasley, who spent last season with the Miami Heat, has had a private workout with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN Los Angeles’ Dave McNenamin (via Twitter):

McNenamin indicated that the workout went well for Beasley, who has always been a gifted offensive player:
Source who saw Beasley’s workout tells me: “Looked very good and he has been working out … A tiny rust from layoff but did a good job” — Dave McMenamin (@mcten) July 30, 2014
Many Heat fans will surely be disappointed by the move, as Beasley had been embraced by the #HeatNation as a reclamation project last season. While gifted, Beasley has had a difficult time carving out a career as a professional. Much of that may have been due to immaturity as talent has never been a question. Beasley seemed to have put that behind him last season in Miami, a team with a strong veteran leadership in place.
Meanwhile, the Lakers are clearly in a transition this year, hoping that Kobe Bryant – expected to recover from injuries over the last two seasons – and a strange cast of role players can make an unexpected playoff push. If used as a dynamic scorer off the bench, Beasley could certainly be a contributor.
No deal is imminent but stay tuned for the latest news.
