Justin Hamilton is expected to become the 12th player under guaranteed contract for the Miami Heat Friday, when 50 percent of his $816,000 deal becomes guaranteed.
“I think we’re probably going to move forward,” Heat President Pat Riley said. “We like Justin and what he’s done in the summer league, from that standpoint. There have obviously been discussions with Justin and his agent. So he wants to be here and we want him to be here.”

Hamilton didn’t get much playing time for the Heat last season, but when he did he often displayed his outside shooting ability (or, at least, preference for it). The seven-footer is listed at center, but could play power forward as well.
He averaged 13.6 points and 6.8 rebounds in five starts during the Orlando summer league, and a team-leading 18 points, 7.0 rebounds in three appearances at the NBA’s Las Vegas summer league.
If Hamilton is on the roster by Dec. 1, 75 percent of his contract then becomes guaranteed.
