The Miami Heat signed former C-USA player of the year Shawn Jones of Middle Tennessee State to a non-guaranteed, camp contract Thursday, according to Shams Charania of RealGM.com.

The 6-foot-8, 233 pound power forward averaged 14.1 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game in his final collegiate season, per draftexpress.com.

Jones, born in Haileah, figures to be a camp body. The Heat are deep with forwards, but could sign him to their D-League affiliate Sioux Falls Skyforce.

NBA teams can carry up to 20 players in training camp and a maximum of 15 players during the regular season.
