It is well known that Dwyane Wade still keeps in contact with his old college coach Tom Crean, and the former Marquette standout took teammates Udonis Haslem, Norris Cole, Mario Chalmers and Josh McRoberts to Crean’s new stomping grounds for a workout at Indiana University, according to Wade’s Instagram page.
We just had a great 3 days of getting better and going back to the basic and fundamentals of the game. Big thanks to my coach #TomCrean and his staff for opening up there home for @ud40 @norriscole @mchalmers15 #joshmcroberts and myself.. #CampIU #leadership
Wade has a close relationship with Crean, writing in his book “A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger Than Basketball” that Crean became a much-needed father figure in Wade’s life.
“At different points, he pushed so hard I was seriously ready to go home,” Wade writes. “Then, of course, I realized there was nuthin’ to go home to. But that didn’t change the backing vocal track inside my head – This man is crazy!”
Crean is a tough coach who always demands a lot from his players. Wade surely believed that three days with Crean would help himself and his teammates in preparation for the upcoming season.
