Duke alum Andre Dawkins has been added to the Miami Heat’s training camp roster, according to a report by the Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman (via Twitter):

According to Winderman, Dawkins landed a spot on the roster after a recent workout with the team.
Dawkins’ agent, John Spencer, also gave the following statement to the Sun Sentinel on Tuesday:
“He had about 12 or 13 teams who had expressed interest, but we had already agreed a while back that he was going to be with them come training camp.”
The former Blue Devil fits a certain model for the Heat; a four-year player that can add experience and intelligence to the team. As a senior, the 6’4″ Dawkins hit 42.1 percent of his 3-point shots. It can’t hurt that fellow Duke players Luol Deng and Josh McRoberts have joined Miami as well.
Dawkins’ addition to the roster brings the total number of camp invitees to 18; teams can bring in a maximum of 20.
