NBA 2K20 released their player ratings on Monday night. While there is always debate over ratings, Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat rated just about right.

In contrast to previous years where NBA 2K released their player ratings gradually over time, they dropped the top 20 player ratings at once in a Twitter live stream on Monday night for the upcoming NBA 2K20. Some players might have an argument that their ratings are off, but new Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler ranks just about right.

Butler checks in at 88 overall, in a five-way tie with Kemba Walker, Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert and Blake Griffin for 16th-highest in the game. Mind you, these players do not appear to be ranked alphabetically, and Butler appears first on the list, so that may be NBA 2K’s nod to Jimmy Butler that they do indeed view him as the best among equals in this cluster.

Jimmy Butler has been nothing if not consistent in the eyes of the game over the years. This is the third straight season he checks in at 88 overall, but in NBA 2K17 he had an incredible 96 overall rating.

In addition to the top 20 players, NBA 2K also released their top five rookies (led by Zion Williamson at 81 overall), their top five bigs (led by Anthony Davis) and their top five shooters (led by Stephen Curry with a 3-point rating of 99).

Although Jimmy Butler does crack the top 20 players list, there is no other entry from the Miami Heat in NBA 2K’s list of notables yet, although as more players are released over the next few weeks leading up to the release of NBA 2K20 and more lists are compiled, it’s reasonable to suspect that players like Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo may sneak themselves into some notables.
