The Miami Heat’s flawless home record was broken up on Friday at the hands of LeBron James and his Los Angeles Lakers. Could they recover against the Mavs?

The Miami Heat came into Saturday’s game needing a win. It’s not that they had been desperate for wins by any stretch of the imagination, but after having their flawless home record broken up, getting a win to cement the fact that they are what they think they are would be crucial in the follow-up game to such a game of that proportion. If you are confused about exactly what that means, let us go into detail.

The Miami Heat were flawless at home, which means that they were obviously a pretty good team. This is because even though some would point to the opponents that they have faced on their home floor, to beat all and any teams that have come into your building considering the rigorous nature of an 82 game schedule and the fact that any team could be beaten on any night with such a large sample of games, to win all eleven contests on your home floor is rather impressive.

Either way, the Miami Heat were finally taken down by a familiar face to the organization, the building, and the city in LeBron James and his Los Angeles Lakers. Saturday would prove to be a chance for redemption in the home of Luka Legend and his Dallas Mavericks.

With the Miami Heat being 0-4 coming into this game on the second night of back to backs for the 2019-20 season, this was a chance for them to break another streak themselves. While you would like him to have been in the game throughout to further legitimize the win, Luka Doncic rolled his angle very early on in the game and would not return.

The Miami Heat took advantage of their best player being out, dominating for much of the game. They went into the halftime break leading by 23, at a score of 73-50, and leading by 10 after three quarters.

The game got tight in the fourth with the Dallas Mavericks eventually being able to close the gap in the fourth and taking the game to overtime. The Miami Heat were able to win the game in overtime, but only due to huge plays from their two stars in Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

What this ultimately means is that a day after having one streak broken up, the Miami Heat were able to break another streak on their own, having not won a game on the back end of a back to back all season. Luka Doncic or not, this was a huge win for the Heat as we move throughout the rest of the season.

The Miami Heat are off until Monday, where they will face the Memphis Grizzlies in Memphis. They beat the Grizz earlier on this season in the first game of the year and will look to do the same to begin a tough stretch of basketball for this Heat team. Inevitably, we are really about to see what this team is made of this season.
