Tonight the Miami Heat (26-7) welcome the new-look New York Knicks (17-17) to the American Airlines Arena. The Heat have won 7 straight games and have really been coming together as a team. They’re shooting lights out and beating teams by over 10 points consistently. The Knicks have been a different team since Jeremy Lin was inserted into the starting lineup and the Heat have never seen this Knicks team before.

Miami just needs to keep doing what they are doing. LeBron playing like and MVP, D-Wade shooting lights out, and Bosh stepping it up and knocking down jumpers. Udonis Haslem and Joel Anthony are going to have their hands full with Tyson Chandler and Amare, so Bosh should get open quite a bit and hit some shots. The key for Miami is to play great defense and to keep shooting well. Boxing out and and getting rebounds, while not turning the ball over, will give Miami more 2nd chance points.

New York is a completely different team from their first meeting earlier this season. “Linsanity” is now the point-guard and they now have a great bench that includes newly-signed J.R. Smith and little-known Steve Novak. Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire have been rusty as of late, after both missing a few games in a row. Miami always has to watch out for the Knicks 3-point shooting. The Knicks can stroke it when they get hot and that can be a Heat killer. If Lin keeps driving it in and kicking it out, it could end up being a problem for Miami.

Miami is looking to continue their winning streak to 8 games tonight, but face a very tough test from these New York Knicks. It is a big game, but could also be a preview of a possible playoff matchup. I never thought the day would come where headlines are Lin vs. LeBron, but then again I never thought the Knicks-Heat series would be feisty again. We will see tonight, but it’s definitely going to be a good one.
Come back to allucanheat.com for some post-game analysis.

The Miami Heat defeated the Sacramento Kings 120-108 at American Airlines Arena on Tuesday night. The Heat were shaky throughout the first 3 quarters and then they pulled a way in the 4th. Sacramento played a great game, but Miami proved to just be too much at the end.
The Heat were led by Dwyane Wade, who continued his amazing run in the month of February. Wade had 30 points on 11-16 shooting, extending his streak of shooting over 50% to 11 games. He also dished out 10 assists. Mario Chalmers and Chris Bosh each contributed 20 points to the cause and LeBron James had 18 points and 8 assists.

D-Wade falling back for a fadeaway against the Kings on Tuesday night.

The starting 5 for Miami combined for 88 points, but their bench is what kept them energized. Norris Cole led all players off of the bench with 12 points, while going 5-7 from the field, and also had 4 assists. Udonis Haslem chipped in with 10 points and 7 rebounds, which now makes him the 2nd leading rebounder in Heat history. Mike Miller also had a very solid game with 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal in only 19 minutes of play. He went 2-4 from 3-point range and seems to be the old Mike Miller again.

You have to give Sacramento credit for hanging with the Heat all the way until the 4th quarter. The young Kings were led by their two point-guards, Tyreke Evans and Isiah Thomas. Both shot 50% from the field, with Thomas knocking in 5 out of 8 pointers. Evans also had a double-double with his 10 assists and Thomas also gave out another 5. Marcus Thornton continued to play well with 23 points, 3 steals, and a block, while Jason Thompson added 16 points and 10 boards. The Kings starting 5 actually outscored Miami 93-88, but Sacramento’s lack of a bench ended up shooting them in the foot.

A good win for the Heat where they showed they could put it all together when they needed to. Miami still won by 12 and continued their winning streak, but looked sloppy at times throughout the first 3 quarters. They will spend tomorrow working out the kinks because on Thursday Linsanity and the Knicks come to Miami.
