In a pivotal Game 5 of the NBA Finals, the Heat failed to win back to back games yet again, losing to the Spurs 114-104, failing behind 3-2, as the series nears a close.

For the Heat, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James each scored 25 points, and Ray Allen contributed 21 points off the bench. James struggled heavily in the second half, finishing 2 for his last 10.

For the Spurs, Tony Parker finished with 26 points. Manu Ginobili finally showed up for the series, as he and Danny Green each scored 24 points apiece. Green hit another 6 three pointers, breaking Ray Allen’s mark for most in a Finals series.

This was a game of runs throughout and the Spurs landed the first major blow in the 1st quarter, when they jumped out to a 32-19 lead. The lead got up to as much as 17, before the Heat went on a run of their own to get the deficit to 6 at the half. The Heat came out aggressive and got the lead down to 1, 75-74, with 3 minutes left. But the Spurs went on a 19-1 run to break the game wide open.

Much like Game 3, the Heat lacked intensity from the beginning and it put them in a hole that they couldn’t get out of it. This team is great at playing a gem of a game and then coming out and laying a dud. Why they haven’t been able to string 2 wins together in almost a month, is beyond comprehension at this point. Maybe the thought of the season ending with one more loss can awaken them.

Once again, the Heat have their backs against the wall, which is when they seem to be the most comfortable. Game 6 is Tuesday, June 18 at 9 pm. Will it be the last game of the season? Or can the Heat force a Game 7?

Today in the Boston Globe, Gary Washburn wrote

“There are rumors the Heat will be looking to deal Chris Bosh, and the Bobcats, who are under the salary cap and could accept Bosh’s near-maximum deal, could be a prime candidate. As much as Charlotte would love to build through the draft, team officials understand they have to start winning and need a player to be the face of the franchise. Bosh could serve that purpose . . .”

Here’s how the Bobcats think Bosh feels about moving to Charlotte.

“Guyzzzz, I can’t wait!!!”

Here’s how Chris Bosh actually feels about moving to Charlotte.

Hellllllll no.

Chris Bosh, for all the crap that I give him (like the fact that he can’t rebound, make shots, or not look like an extinct dinosaur) is a Top 20-25 NBA player. Whenever I’m feeling particularly anti-Bosh, I force myself to watch the following video, which at least makes me feel a little better about Bosh getting a near-max deal.

Chris Bosh has one of the best (if not the best) mid-range shot in the game. He can run that pick-and-pop to perfection. Erik Spoelstra has said that Chris Bosh is the Heat’s most important player. Additionally, Spoelstra has said

“He makes it look easy and he makes it look quiet, and yet he’s so impactful in the game. He was big under the rim and not just his scoring, but the big plays defensively at the end.”

Maybe Spoelstra is saying other things to Chris Bosh right now like “Make open three pointers at the end of NBA Finals games” or “Can you please help us rebound the ball? Please?!?” but Spoelstra is right about the importance of Bosh’s ability to hit the mid-range jumper and the spacing it provides the Heat’s offense. The Heat aren’t going to trade away somebody with that level of ability.

Here’s another reason why Chris Bosh won’t/shouldn’t be traded.
