POINT GUARD – Steve Blake
Steve Blake came to the league out of the University of Maryland, whose team name is the Terps, or Terrapins, which are soft-shelled turtles. Turtles are best known for eating pizza, being ninjas and HAVING SHELLS! Terrapins do none of these things! YOU HAD ONE JOB, MARYLAND!
In any case, Blake is a popular choice to help bolster Miami’s depth because people have short-term memories. Or are stupid. Or both. The addition of Blake has an emotional factor because he played high-school basketball in Miami (along with a couple of other schools…God bless amateur athletics!)
Here’s his pro career, so far. Washington, Portland, Milwaukee, Denver, Portland (again), L.A. Clippers, L.A. Lakers and Golden State. He was drafted in 2003, the same year as James, who has been raked over the coals for leaving one team and joining another. BLAKE HAS BEEN ON SEVEN TEAMS!
He’s also averaged under 7 points per game and has been mostly-solid. That won’t cut it against the San Antonio Spurs, though. He also played with Udonis Haslem in high school, so there’s that, which isn’t nearly enough to justify his signing.
Pat Riley, do not sign Steve Blake.
