In 2013, many were wondering what role Michael Beasley would play during the upcoming season. Having recently signed a non-guaranteed one-year contract earlier that summer, it was not even set in stone that he would make the final 15-man roster; however, he ended up beating out a handful of other guys during preseason. Because of his troubled past, some looked down upon the Heat for taking the young buck on. Or rather, back on. Beasley had already played for Miami from 2008-2010.
During the 2013-2014 season, the former Heat player averaged 7.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists on 15.1 minutes of play, appearing in 55 games.
