3. Nicolas Batum

We’re moving on from the big man trend for a bit, and here’s why.

While Batum isn’t a seven footer that will command the paint and protect the rim, he’s a dynamic and versatile offensive threat that can pass, score, run pick-and-rolls and shoot off the dribble. He’s also a plus-defender on the perimeter that can guard multiple positions.

After signing with the Hornets last offseason and putting up stellar numbers (14.9 points, 5.8 assists and 6.1 rebounds,) Batum is free to field offers, and there’s no doubt there will be plenty of suitors lined up for his services. There’s already rumors swirling that Charlotte will offer the 27-year-old a max deal, and he definitely warrants it, seeing he is just entering his prime.

A career 36 percent three-point shooter, Batum connected on 35 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc last season and definitely reminded the Portland Trail Blazers exactly what they were missing with his improving play.

Fit wise, Batum would slide in nicely at the three or stretch-4 spot, and would bring a nice shooting touch to a team that ranked 27th in three-point shooting last season.

All that being said, signs point toward Batum signing elsewhere, but it is free agency for a reason.

You can never say never.
