The House Is On Fire!
As if this fiasco wasn’t enough, there was another report that dropped over the last few days that also doesn’t bode well for Waiters’ Miami Heat future. According to a piece written for Heavy.com by NBA writer Sean Deveney, Waiters has been on the trade block since “last Christmas”. Here is a quote from Deveney’s piece from an anonymous NBA GM.
"“They’ve been trying to trade him since last Christmas,” one GM told Heavy.com. “No one was trying to take him on then. After this kind of thing, it would be really hard to take him on now. He has had this kind of junk attached to him just about his whole career.”"
While this is certainly a cause for concern in itself, that those outside of the Miami Heat’s walls are aware of what’s going on, another cause for concern is what is actually going on inside the organization. As Deveney also noted, whereas Waiters usually has the “common decency to wait until midseason or so to cause a ruckus within the Heat locker room”, he has started early this season.
Being suspended for the first game of the season for what is being described as “unprofessional conduct”, he “aimed a fit of anger at coach Erik Spoelstra on the bench during Miami’s final preseason game” as described by Deveney. Here is Pat Riley‘s statement on the suspension, via the social media account of sports reporter Al Butler.
The season hasn’t even started yet, but Dion is already in midseason form. Let’s hope they sort this issue out, one way or another. If Waiters isn’t happy, then he can’t help the team in the way in which he probably could help.
If the team isn’t pleased with him, that may be bad for chemistry and the locker room scenario. One way or another, this issue has to be resolved, because the season is nye and you don’t need these types of things surrounding a team so early in the season and process. We will continue to monitor things as they play out, but as of now, this has been your latest update from Days Of Our Lives: South Beach.
