With the point guard position becoming more of a question than an answer, the Miami Heat would do well looking into Jordan Clarkson.

28-year old combo guard Jordan Clarkson is one of the most interesting free agents that will hit the market following this season. After years with the pre-LeBron Lakers and post-LeBron Cavaliers, he’s proved he can contribute with a winning team now on the Utah Jazz.

After being acquired at the deadline Clarkson’s averaged 15.6 points off the bench. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent in the upcoming offseason and won’t demand that much of a payday.

Now that Clarkson’s had a taste of winning basketball, it’s likely that factors into his free agency decision. No one sells it better than the Heat, and they may have a hole at point guard. Goran Dragic, a longtime fixture in Miami’s culture, will also be an unrestricted free agent.

There’s no doubt Pat Riley and company will look to retain him, but if it cost them any of their precious 2021 cap space, the two parties may ultimately part ways. Replacing his scoring punch in the second unit will be the top priority, and Clarkson more than fits that bill.
