How far are the Miami Heat willing to go for the services of Giannis Antetokounmpo? Here’s how far I would go.

Kenneth Wilson (@ksidwhat)

It’s actually fairly simple for me. I can’t see the Miami Heat giving up two quality starters and players for anyone.

Yes, Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the best players in the world and would instantly become the best player on the Miami Heat’s squad if he were moved today, however, that’s not all it takes to have a good team.

A good team is built. Just like that chemistry between them is built. Just like those good relationships and comradery is built.

You can’t replicate that or instantaneously pull that out of nowhere.

Just like any other walk of life, these guys are human. While they may be excited to be playing with a potential All-Time great in Giannis, they would inevitably be a little perturbed that their guy or guys were no longer in that locker room, right?

I also tend to agree with Collin here. To give up too much to acquire him makes it a moot point.

The point of adding him would only be to certainly propel yourself into championship territory, with the desire being to at least challenge for the title every year he’s here, right? If you give up all of your auxiliary pieces to land him, what is there to play with him?

The guys that were there that made this such an enticing potential matchup might not be there any longer in a deal such as this one. That’s why I can’t see giving up “any two” players.

All in all, I can be sold on The Greek Freak, but only if it doesn’t mean selling the farm or gutting the roster. I am not for moving all of their current pieces to do so.

This will continue to be a topic of conversation as we progress throughout the postseason, into, and throughout the offseason to come. Giannis isn’t technically a free agent until after next season, so any potential move may actually be made during next season.

However, some teams and personnel decision-makers see the writing on the wall and like to get ahead of it. We shall see how things go, but either way, we’ll be keeping up with it.
