Miami Heat: 3 Ways To Further Unlock Max Strus- More Time With Key Guys

When Miami Heat leader and All-NBA Tough GuyJimmy Butler, believes in you, then you know there must be something to it. Here is what he had to say about Max Strus back in February of this past season after a win over Houston, per NBA.com

"[I have confidence in him] because I see him shoot the ball when nobody’s looking. Like, the amount of reps that he puts in, I want you to do what you are comfortable doing,” Butler said. “Obviously, he turned the corner and yammed it on John Wall, but…what he does is shoot the ball. I’ve seen him do it every single day. I don’t care if somebody’s in front of you, if I pass you that bad baby, if Bam passes it, if you can get you a shot off, get you a shot off because that’s what you do, that’s your role on this team. And he’s really f’n good at it."

With that, they might want to maximize a cheap yet quality asset like Strus moving forward, providing he’s back with the team, while one would hope he would be and for those reasons. Here are three ways to unlock more of that potential.

More Time With Key Guys

It all starts at the top. As Jimmy illustrated in the quote, if he or Bam passes him the ball.

That’s important. He’ll draw confidence from better looks and seeing them go through, which has a higher likelihood with better players on the floor beside him.

He has lethal skill. He should be allowed more time to flex that skill with the main guys, providing he can hold his own enough on the defensive side of the ball.
