The Miami Heat weren’t going to enter this season as they did last season. In various ways but specifically here, it’s in reference to letting certain guys get away from there and at the very least, not doing anything in the way of replacing them.
Jae Crowder was that way from the NBA Bubble run Miami Heat, bringing a certain level of toughness on the floor, rebounding, and especially his shooting. They, flat-out, missed him.
And that still wasn’t enough, at times. Even with Jae Crowder, it was highlighted in those same NBA Finals that the Miami Heat needed to add some size to their ranks.
With all of the chaos of last year in consideration, you’d like to give them a pass, but you can’t and here’s why. While they will get the credit for bringing in Dewayne Dedmon for the last 20 games or so of last season, a huge help he was, he sat around all of last year before that happened.

Miami Heat: Bold Prediction For Dewayne Dedmon In 2021-22
Perhaps, a lot of that had to do with him, but perhaps they just didn’t address their size issue as they should have, it could go either way. It’s water under the bridge at this point though, as he’s back and should be in store for a good year with the Heat.
That should consist of rebounding, rim protection, and finishing at the cup as well. There is something else that he can do that he could offer the Miami Heat.
He’s done it in the past with other teams, in fact. It’s also his bold prediction for the season.
Bold Prediction: He will shoot 33 percent from 3 on 2.5 attempts this year
In past seasons, he had a high level of success from the outside. Logically though, his last few seasons could be pointed to as a case for questioning it or going against asking for it, but there are things about those years that can be questioned as well.

Miami Heat: Dewayne Dedmon Can Hit The Shots… If He Gets Them
He only played in 16 games with Miami last season, not really having a chance to get deep enough into the offense to explore that part of his game with them, indicative by the .3 per game attempted. He split the season prior between Atlanta and Sacramento, meaning a change in offense and also coming along with multiple changes in philosophies but also, perhaps it was just an off year?
In the years where he has had the attempts, the overwhelming majority of the results are successes. You also have to consider that it would allow the Heat more spacing, at times, if he shot it a few times per game from range.
It also plays well off some of the other guys on the roster, such as Bam Adebayo, who gets more effective as an offensive player with closer proximity to the rim right now. This would allow him and Dedmon to equally contribute and interchange if playing together.
That’s the last part. It allows the Heat to have a ton of versatility in different situations, be that for foul trouble, needing to size up or down to match up, or any other scenario that one could think of.
It’s really a win-win scenario and especially considering that they had Kelly Olynyk and Meyers Leonard, as seven-footers, shooting the shot as well. Thats why this is Dewayne Dedmon’s bold prediction for the coming year, he just has to get the attempts.
