The Miami Heat brought in a slew of new guys this past offseason. While Kyle Lowry was the big fish, P.J. Tucker‘s addition can’t be understated but even with all of that, there is another guy who should have a major role for Miami.
Markieff Morris, of the daunting Morris Twins, is now a member of the Miami Heat. With his do-everything ability, toughness, and physicality, Morris should really be able to help the Heat accomplish their goals.
How so though? That’s a good question and one that can be addressed a bit here.
Here are his three goals for the upcoming season.
Top Three All-Around Year
Playing with a team like the Miami Heat typically does wonders for players. Not only do they get in the best shape of their lives, but they also tend to produce at a higher level with Miami than they have at other stops.
The same will be the case Morris. While you won’t go as far as to say he’ll have his best year as a pro, though maybe, he will certainly have a top-three year for his career.

Miami Heat: 3 Bold Predictions For Markieff Morris In 2021-22 – The Buckets
In order to have a career-ish year, he will need to put up numbers. That’s just where the following takes us.
He’ll Average 10 Points A Game Or More
This doesn’t sound like a ton, however, it is from a relative perspective. Follow along here though.
When you look at his numbers from previous years and across his career, he’s averaged 10 or more points just once in the last five years.
As with a lot of players though, his production corresponds directly to the minutes he received, for what it’s worth. That’s the thing about this season though.
He should be afforded, at least, 20 or so minutes, on average, with the Miami Heat this year. In the years where he has had the time on the floor, he’s produced.
That should be the case in Miami for him, as he should have the time on the floor.

Miami Heat: 3 Bold Predictions For Markieff Morris In 2021-22 – The Range
Though he hasn’t ever been a volume shooter, in any sense of the word, there is an interesting scenario going on when you look at his three point numbers. In seasons where he shoots more, he shoots it better.
He’ll Shoot 35 Percent Or Better On Over Two Attempts Or More From Range
Because the Miami Heat have focused so much on the outside shot in recent seasons, you have to believe that they’ll encourage him to take his looks too. With that, he’s averaged 2.5 attempts per game across his career, though just 1.1 and 1.4 over his last two seasons.
As mentioned with him though, his efficiency increases with volume, a rare phenomenon. That and the fact that, again, that’s just been the Heat philosophy over the last couple of seasons leans towards the above being true.
He’ll take his 2.5 or so that he has for his career or more in Miami. With the space and opportunity he should be afforded, he should make good on those.
Being a 34.1 percent shooter from range for his career, it’s not crazy, at all, to think he can climb to 35 percent this season… and maybe even surpass it. One thing is for certain though and that’s that he’ll be a huge part of what they hope to do this year.
He should be, anyway. If he can crush these predictions, then that certainly means they are succeeding.
For them, that could mean success at the highest level, as they are built to do it. Hopefully that is the case and hopefully, Markieff is fulfilling these predictions along the way.
