The Miami Heat will need all of their guys to be their best selves in the coming season. Not only will they be the hunted, but with good reason, as they are talented and a title-contender.

A huge part of whether they can actually get that done or not will be the play of Tyler Herro. A guy that many had a ton to say about last year, not all good, Herro has a plenty to prove in the coming season.

The reason, though, that there was a ton to be said about him last season is because he regressed in the eyes of some. For starters and to frame the rest of take here, his statistical numbers increased, with minimal efficiency drop-off where it most mattered.

Even still though, if you take a look at the scenario and in totality, not just in the bite-sized pieces that social media or the internet may present, the story is actually quite simple. So is the answer to the question at hand, for that matter.

Miami Heat: Is Tyler Herro Still Right On Schedule?

When you look at Tyler Herro’s short career, thus far, it appears that he had an awesome rookie year, followed by a not so awesome second year. On the surface, that would be correct.

However, these past few years have been anything but normal. With the pandemic rocking the world as we knew it, nothing was the same and therefore, can’t necessarily be interpreted the same as in regular seasons or years.

There is a strange phenomenon that occurred over these past two years and it might help to explain what has been put on display by Tyler Herro. To be quite literal and on the situation as a whole, there were more days in between the pre-bubble and bubble parts of that one season than there were betwixt the bubble season and the season that followed.

It was almost three times as much time, with the pandemic splitting the season up by five months and the offseason only separating that season and the last one by about two months or so. That’s the simplicity of the story that said “bite-sized” pieces don’t truly reflect.

Miami Heat: Yes, Tyler Herro Is Still Right On Schedule & With High Potency

As far as the answer to the question, that follows the same lines. Again, there was still a statistical increase from his rookie year to this past one, however and if you must find fault in it, there is good explanation.

The development that typically happens between a player’s seasons, first and second here, happened for Tyler between the the pre-bubble and bubble portions of the season. Again, that was the part that saw them have five or so months off.

There wasn’t another huge leap between there and this past season because they only had two months or so off. It actually makes complete sense, although again and thrice for clarity on the perception from this direction, he still improved in this past season.

You can’t please everyone and it appears that Tyler Herro is done trying to. What matters is that he is on a high trajectory, improving at a steadily inclining pace, and definitely still on schedule.

If he is what all of that says he should be in the coming season, then things will be that much sweeter for the Miami Heat. Possibly, as sweet as a title.
