Unfortunately, the Miami Heat lose out on their original pick in Tyler Herro. Instead, they choose to select a similar player in Kevin Porter Jr with the thirteenth overall pick.

Porter Jr didn’t play super well in his rookie season, but as soon as he got traded to the Houston Rockets he flourished. Now, he should be a huge part of the Rockets’ future plans.

With the Miami Heat, Porter Jr would likely take on a similar role to the one Herro has. While he could potentially crack the starting lineup, it is more likely that he would assume the role of the team’s sixth man.

His shooting and playmaking abilities would help fill in the hypothetical gap that Herro left since he jumped up to pick five. While he may not have as much potential as Herro right now, he certainly could have shown that he does if he were put in a better position from the beginning of his career.

Miami Heat fans won’t be happy about Herro getting snatched up at pick five. However, they shouldn’t be too upset with the Miami Heat taking Porter Jr instead.
