Miami Heat: Steve Kerr Sits Ahead Of Erik Spoelstra For Team USA Job
That’s one of the great qualitites about him that would have made him a super candidate for the Team USA coaching role. However, that may not be in the cards for the Miami Heat’s head man.
According to NBA Reporter Marc Stein:
"Golden States’s Steve Kerr has emerged as a favorite to succeed San Antonio’s Gregg Popovich as head coach for the USA Basketball senior men’s national team, league sources say."
Along with that part of the report, there were a few other intricacies and details of note highlighted in Steins reporting.
He did note that Miami Heat head man, “Erik Spoelstra is another natural candidate for the position”, per his sources.
However and with the “vagaries”, obviously meaning “vague” but probably to describe the volatile and fluctuating nature of international play (perhaps), they have a “key requirement” of “prior international experience”. Interesting.
While that is all fine and dandy, winning at that level is about being able to take the best talent in the world, the stars, superstars, and megastars, and helping them to figure out how to be stars in their role for the greater success of a team.
