The Miami Heat are having to find a way to survive right now. Being down a ton of guys in the Health and Safety Protocols scenario, they are also experiencing quite the bit of regular injury on their behalf as well.

With Bam Adebayo still out after thumb surgery, with P.J. Tucker missing time recently with a leg injury, with Dewayne Dedmon being down for some time with a recent knee situation, and with Markieff Morris not playing since last year sometime, that’s a ton to contend with, in itself.

Well, then there’s your best player. Jimmy Butler, who has already missed time this season with ankle injuries and a tailbone scenario that kept him out about three weeks, is now down again after badly twisting an ankle in the Miami Heat’s last game.

Not only did they lose that tough game to the best team in the league, the Golden State Warriors, but they lost their superstar in the process. Talk about not being able to catch a break.

However, they do have something to moot all of those things are trying to sabotage their season. They have a secret weapon, sort of.

At worst, you have to say that they have a saving grace. They have something that every team or franchise can’t say they have or have ever had.

They have the very thing that has brought them this far and has done so time and time again across his tenure. They have an elite leader.

That would be Miami Heat head coach, Erik Spoelstra. A guy that has never won the NBA COY award, this year might just be his year.

However, he was recently just named the NBA’s Coach Of The Month.

At least he’s getting that respect and though he hasn’t received the highest honor, the league’s annual award for the best head man, he does have the respect of his peers.

While that extends around the league and throughout, there was one recent opinion that really exemplifies the respect that he’s earned. The time, place, and situation of the compliment is as indicative as anything.

Miami Heat: Steve Kerr Knows How Good Erik Spoelstra Is, That’s For Certain

Here is what Golden State Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, had to say about the Miami Heat’s long-tenured head coach. Via Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, it says a ton that he chose to say this after his Warriors beat Miami on Monday.

"Steve Kerr after the game: “That was a testament to Heat culture. That was just straight Miami Heat basketball. They’ve been doing this for so long with Spo and Pat Riley over the last two decades. … That was one the best performances I’ve seen from an undermanned team.”"

Though the Heat were defeated, Kerr knows what he was up against. He knows that, solely, based on his own coaching perspective and from what Spo has actually had to work with across his career, including that game and this season.

Taking the Big 3 Era out of it, Spo has consistently overachieved when he wasn’t supposed to and completed the mission when he was. He’s a great coach, whether most want to admit it or not.

Steve Kerr knows that. They say that game recognizes game and that is certainly the case here.

Most importantly, the other guy that Kerr mentioned knows it. That would be The Godfather, Pat Riley.

And that’s really all that matters.
