The Miami Heat are pretty beat up right now and that includes multiple fronts. While they are starting to slowly see guys trickle back in from the Health and Safety Protocols tidal wave they experience over the last week or so, they still have some guys done with regular old NBA seasonal injuries.

With Dewayne Dedmon going down some time ago, Omer Yurtseven has stepped up in a major way to help fill that void.

That’s especially with Bam Adebayo being out still and P.J. Tucker just returning from a leg injury, while Markieff Morris hasn’t played in a long time now.

The Miami Heat have needed all they could get from the guys that have suited up and that won’t quit any time soon. The biggest reason for that lies in the fact that Jimmy Butler tweaked his ankle again and likely won’t see the court again for a few games.

Needing more guys to step up in the absences of all the guys they have been without and will continue to be without for the foreseeable future, they have gotten production from the darndest places.

Can Kyle Guy Make A Strong Enough Impression With Miami Heat?

While they were brought in for a reason, some of the 10-day hardship guys have really been key. Though still with his faults and developmental needs, you give Chris Silva a ton of credit.

Haywood Highsmith has also shown well in limited opportunity. Among all of the guys brought in under those circumstances though, no one has outperformed Kyle Guy.

The former National Champion at the University of Virginia has proceeded to come into the Miami Heat’s organization and make people ask questions.

The first of those questions is pretty direct and all-inclusive.

How isn’t he or wasn’t he on an NBA roster already? With his skill set and the things he’s shown since arriving in Miami, there are surely some teams out there that can use what he brings.

At the very worst, his shooting ability is something that you would think teams would be interested in. Perhaps not though.

Luckily, he was around to be plucked by the Heat in their time of need. Why though, was that the case in the first place?

Kyle Guy Has A Lot Of The Very Tools That The Miami Heat Look For

The Miami Heat look for a certain type of guy when adding to their roster. Kyle Guy has a ton of those same qualities.

So, again, how was he not with some team? How did he get away from a terrible Sacramento organization at the moment?

How about a team that could stand to have a bit more of the thing that he does the best? The Cleveland Cavaliers could certainly use his range shooting.

It’s downright befuddling.

He hit on two possible reasons though in his rightfully earned postgame interview from his first game with the Heat against Houston. He spoke to how one of the knocks on him coming into the league were questions about his ability to be a point guard type at his limited size and with his role as a combo guard in college.

He also spoke to his ability to defend. Both of those things shouldn’t be questioned anymore though, because he has shown a great adeptness on both sides of the ball in Miami.

He can definitely defend his position and be pesky doing it, while his ability to make plays for others is apparent, averaging three dimes per game across his three games with the Heat. That isn’t anything colossal, but indicative of his playmaking ability.

He’s a scorer anyway, which is what the Miami Heat probably love about him. And it isn’t just about his scoring or shooting, but how he does it.

He has gumption, coconuts, or the guts as The Godfather, Pat Riley, would say.

See the above shot for proof. He’s got the juice and made of the right stuff.

Hopefully, he can keep showing it in whatever time he has left. The Miami Heat like guys built like him.

They have a means of keeping him around and it all revolves around finagling the Caleb Martin contract situation around. However, it’s possible.

At this point, all signs seem like he would be a nice addition. Hopefully, he can continue to keep making a strong enough impression to do so.
