Miami Heat: Ceiling for Marcus Garrett’s role in 2022-23 season

However, what does that all look like in the coming season? Here is Marcus Garrett’s ceiling and floor for the Miami Heat in the coming 2022-23 NBA season.

Ceiling: Around 20 Minutes Per Defensive Stopper That Pushes For Standard Deal

The Miami Heat haven’t been able to make a huge move on the trade market and it looks like they may eventually settle on running it back with a core that looks nearly the same.

With that being the case and though for other reasons as well, you know there will be some minutes available based solely on the fact that they will be without some guys from last season and even if they add another smaller piece to the mix on the market.

Further along, if Garrett can continue to make good on the defensive chops that got him to the Miami Heat in the first place, that he showed last season, and that he continued to put on display recently in NBA Summer League action, he will see minutes.

If he proves to be able to hit his open outside shots, get into the teeth of the defense with his penetration, not be too much of an offensive liability, or any combination—he could find himself as a key rotational figure based on his unique size and guarding ability alone.

If that happens, he may run up on his games limit as a two-way player, which could see him converted to a standard deal for the rest of the season. Now again, this is his ceiling but the potential is there with his defensive ability.
