The Miami Heat have vied for another star player, reportedly, for what seems like most of the summer. While things on that front have yet to materialize, it might be time to move on from landing the whale and focus on filling the smaller voids in the roster.
While the options on the free agent market are all but obsolete at this point, they could turn their trade attention to lesser sought-after guys.
However, one of the higher sought-after guys could be a way to help facilitate it all.
In the latest about the Kevin Durant situation, the Brooklyn Nets have made it known that they intend to do what’s best for their organization. From the mouth of the team’s owner, Joe Tsai, has stated that he supports his current coach and front office, people Durant reportedly wants to go if he is to return.
Though Durant’s reported ultimatum and the response from the team owner seems to be all that needs to be known, there is a bit more to it all.

Miami Heat Could Benefit From Kevin Durant Trade Without Getting KD
With the latest also indicating that the Nets do intend to get every last asset from a team in order to secure Kevin Durant, that means that it will be a might hefty trade package they are seeking, one of the biggest ever according to previously reported Nets desires.
More than likely, that scenario will require multiple teams and perhaps, more than just three of them. For a club like the Miami Heat that employs Pat Riley, Andy Elisburg, and other brilliantly shrewd dealmakers, that could be another supreme opportunity.
Sitting back in wait for all this to shake out has been well played by the Heat. In most scenarios, patience does do the trick but at this point, it doesn’t seem like the Heat will be the team that wins the Kevin Durant Sweepstakes if you’re being completely honest.
That’s especially if they are only interested in a package centered around Bam Adebayo to get it done. But, the Miami Heat could still do themselves a huge favor by simply—getting in on the Durant deal.

Miami Heat Should Look To Be In On Durant Deal, No Matter The Circumstances
The Kevin Durant deal, whenver it materializes, should be so big that it should see a lot of moving parts. Not only might those Miami Heat front office geniuses be able to get some things back that they might want, but they may also be able to get off of some things they don’t necessarily want.
Not that this is definitely the case but say for example, the Duncan Robinson contract is too much for them after last season’s showing, it could be a way to move him while gaining a useful piece back in return.
Again, this isn’t advocating for that, at all, as Robinson deserves a chance to bounce back based on what he has done up until this point. He didn’t have as terrible a year by the numbers as he did by what it felt like you saw from him on a nightly basis, however, this is just an example of what could be the case.
Whatever may happen with Durant and the Nets though, as something does appear on the horizon based on the happenings of the last few days, the Miami Heat stand a chance of benefitting from hit.
And as expounded upon here, that doesn’t necessarily mean coming away with Kevin Durant.
