The Miami Heat have fallen into their traditional holes at times this season. Failing to maintain consistency, relaxing on their core principles, and not playing for each other are all key examples of things that go wrong for them when it’s all going bad.

Among them, perhaps simply a by-product or illness related to the above symptoms is their offensive stagnancy. And that problem almost was the reason that one of their latest good efforts came up short.

Coming back, on the back of their defense, against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday, they began to go stale in the crunch moments of the game. But with under three minutes left on the clock, the Miami Heat got a flurry of offense from one of the likeliest unlikely sources.

That would be their veteran point guard, their QB1, or simply—Kyle Lowry. When the Miami Heat found themselves needing it the most on Sunday late in the game, Lowry took over the game for them, giving them all they needed to hang on.

Pondering Kyle Lowry Among Miami Heat’s Unlikelihood To Break Roster Up

Keeping the Miami Heat alive, going back and forth with the Pelicans on his own for several key possessions in crunch time, Lowry was a colossal part of the Miami Heat’s ability to take the game.

He would make some tough shots along the way too.

Now, it’s all pretty interesting considering that Lowry and his status with the team, his contract, and his production have been quite the topic for some time now.

Some have even suggested that they look to move the veteran guard. However, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Miami Heat are rolling with this roster and that includes Kyle Lowry.

And though it doesn’t always look like it did on Sunday for Lowry, it shows why the Miami Heat are probably right to stick to their guns.

When it comes to Kyle Lowry, you definitely want more from him, more of what you saw late in Sunday’s game, and that probably is simply a question of whether he lets it go or not. Lowry just needs to shoot the ball more and it really doesn’t get any simpler than that.

The Miami Heat May Make A Move But It Likely Won’t Involve Moving Lowry

However, he also provides a steady, solid, and intelligent presence at the point guard spot that still helps the team operate more fluidly and efficiently. That’s even when he isn’t making these kinds of tough shots on his own accord.

Now, some may say there are other options out there that could provide that and possibly some more. That may be correct, but unless there is a homerun answer, you don’t take that risk with what Jimmy Butler has shown you over the past few years, what Bam Adebayo is showing you now, and with the microwave of a weapon that Tyler Herro has shown to be.

There is also this. Like last season, even for all of his turmoil, conditioning questions, and missed time, Lowry still showed up to make a massive impact in the playoffs when on the floor, winning a game for the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.

So, for all the negative that many can find on Lowry, there is still a ton of positive. And when you think about it, he still can offer you something in the big spot.

If the rest of the team operates as it is supposed to, what Lowry does should only be positive. He’ll have his moments but so do they all and as long as he continues to shoot the ball with confidence and consistency, he and the Heat should be just fine.
