After missing nearly the whole season for the Miami Heat due to a knee recovery process, Victor Oladipo finally returned to NBA action against the Houston Rockets. This was a long-anticipated return for Miami.

They had traded for him last year, but he only played four games for the Heat before going down last season. The return of Oladipo could not have come for a better time for the Heat either.

They are sitting at first place in the Eastern Conference and they are battling for the second-best record, overall, in the NBA.

The Heat are on the verge of a deep playoff run.

While they have managed to persevere through several injuries throughout the year, the pieces are finally starting to come together. This is perfect timing too, as the NBA playoffs are set to begin about a month from now.

While Oladipo begins his adjustment back to the NBA pace, let’s take a look at the player that the Miami Heat are adding to their already stacked roster. Who is Victor Oladipo?

Furthermore, what can we expect from him at this point in his career?

Miami Heat: Victor Oladipo Brings A Different Energy To Rotation

Back when Victor Oladipo played for the Indiana Pacers, he was a two-time NBA All-Star. In his best season, he averaged over 23 points and 2.4 steals per game.

Elite Scorer And Defender

He has consistently been a great two-way player in this league, scoring efficiently while providing excellent perimeter defense on the other end. In his first game back, Oladipo looked pretty impressive considering how long he has been out.

As expected, he experienced some rust with his ball handling. Some of the positive takeaways from the game were his explosiveness and his defense.

On offense, he used his speed to create shots for himself and for others. On defense, he took two charges, contributing to Miami’s top of the leaderboard positioning for the most charges drawn in the entire NBA.

Oladipo was on a minutes restriction on Monday though. We only saw a glimpse of what to expect.

What was clear was that Oladipo had no problem adjusting to his teammates. Some believe that Oladipo could return to the form of himself that we saw in Indiana.

That might be hard to do but based on what we saw in his 2022 debut, it might be possible. Regardless, the production Oladipo provided against the Rockets should be enough if he continues to match that type of production.

Miami Heat: It’s Literally About The Energy With Victor Oladipo Though

One thing you might not know about Victor Oladipo is that he is a singer. And he is really talented.

Bringing The Energy

He has released a few songs and he has even made an appearance as a singer on the FOX show “The Masked Singer”.

Here is what Bam Adebayo had to say about Oladipo’s singing.

"He always comes into the locker room singing. That’s his thing. He’s a singer. But you can tell he’s positive, he’s uplifting. His energy on the bench, if you notice, he’s always dancing, he’s always bringing life into somebody. He’s always overly communicating with a lot of us. So he’s staying in the mix."

This shows that Victor Oladipo has already made an impact on the team, even before playing a single minute this season. He was able to find other ways to contribute.

Oladipo’s spirit provides an energy that motivates and strengthens the team. The Miami Heat are a talented team, but what makes them even better is that they all get along with each other.

They play unselfish basketball. They encourage each other.

They bring the energy needed to make a championship run. Victor Oladipo can play a big role for the Heat in the playoffs.

He might just be the “cherry on top” type of player that sets the Miami Heat apart from the rest of the East. Even if he does not return to All-Star form, he can make an impact by playing solid defense and by continuing to motivate the team the way he does.

If he does return to that top form though, then the rest of the league is in big trouble. The Heat are coming for the NBA title.
