Game recap for the Miami Heat vs the Memphis Grizzlies on Dec. 29.

110. 99. 211. Final. 90

Box score

After hitting nine of his first 10 shots, Chris Bosh proceeded to miss his next 11 attempts. That was the kind of night it was for the Heat, who looked very good in a closely played first half and, in fact, for much of the second half, but just couldn’t close the thing out. The Heat fell to the Memphis Grizzlies in overtime Tuesday at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee.

It was Miami’s fourth game in five nights, and their second loss in two nights. It was an annoying loss because the Heat were in it with a chance to win, but not all together agonizing or even a bad loss. The Heat looked very good in the first half. The offense was fluid and generating good shots. The defense was solid, if not good, across the board. However, Miami tired out toward the end. Defense couldn’t close out, guys weren’t boxing out and, on offense, the players were standing around and settling for easy shots.

Again. Four games. Five nights. Traveling for every other one of them. That’s a rough stretch for any NBA team. You can take the good out of this game, or the bad. But, for me, the good (flashes of chemistry and good basketball) outweighs the bad (tired bodies).

Three stars

Though he started 9-for-10, Chris Bosh finished the game by missing his final 11 shots. He ended up with 22 points on 9-of-21 shooting, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range.

Goran Dragic was aggressive and in control, especially in the first half in which the Heat’s offense looked fluid and effective. He also had the big rebound off a Memphis miss at the end with 4.5 seconds left to give the Heat the final possession of the game. He finished with 16 points and five assists.

Dwyane Wade finished with 19 points, five assists and five rebounds.

BONUS STAR!!!! Tyler Johnson hit three of his six 3-pointers to finish with 13 points in 30 minutes. However, he did take a bad shot in the final seconds of overtime in which he hogged the ball and ended up taking a turnaround two-pointer while his team was down six. Didn’t like that…
