Jay Z (he got rid of the hyphen because why not) moved the Nets to Brooklyn. Then left. Why? To challenge Drew Rosenhaus because that dude couldn’t be left alone to monopolize all the athletes in the world. While Rosenhaus is WRESTLING FREAKING SHARKS, Jay Z is doing his part to maintain a fair, capitalistic market. It’s the least he can do after MCHG.
The Russian Nets, then, decided to disregard money (because Putin can always steal some more?) and sign a bunch of future hall of famers and make one its head coach. But what is this team all about? To me, this team is a bunch of names-better-than-the-talent players. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett are old. So is Jason Terry.
I’m not sure how much depth this team has either. But if Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez maintain its ability to score of offense, then this team has gotten much better defensively with the old C’s.
But why hire a first-time coach to lead a bunch of veterans whose window will be open for about a year? Maybe two? That, I still don’t understand.
A threat to the Heat? I don’t know. But I don’t think so. You know what? No.
