Moving Mario Chalmers to backup shooting guard may have been the smartest move Erik Spoelstra has pulled of in a while.
Chalmers has flourished off the bench and is playing minutes like a starter. It’s essentially a win-win for Chalmers because he gets more minutes and plays against bench players most of the time.
He has been able to step in for the inured Dwyane Wade in three games this season, and played fairly well. Chalmers is better suited as a sixth-man, and that’s what Miami will ride on until it fails (if it ever will).
