The Trade Candidates
Mario Chalmers: I don’t want to see Rio anywhere but with the Heat. As a second round pick, he has provided the Heat with a strong 6 seasons in the league. We too often forget his role on the championship Heat rosters. Chalmers will no longer start in Miami with Goran now entrenched in that role, but he should still be a decent backup, if the Heat have him back. It’s hard to predict what will happen with Chalmers, but I do believe he’ll be back.
Shabazz Napier: Shabazz was a disappointment for much of the 2014/2015 season before going down with an injury. He could easily slip into the “Young Projects” group with other Heat developmental projects, but is likely lower on the Heat totem pole than the other youngsters. He still has promise and could be worth more to Miami in a trade than on their own roster.
Josh McRoberts: McRoberts could still be a huge key for the Heat this upcoming season, but he could become expandable for the team, depending on the direction they want to go in. Like I suggested before, McRoberts and the #10 overall pick could be packaged to bring in a free agent, ala Danny Green. Or he could be the player the Heat envisioned last season, playing a role of the backup 4, providing a spark off the bench. Riley must have really liked something in McRoberts to give him a 5-year deal, I expect McRoberts back.
