Stanley Johnson, SF, Arizona
Measures: 6-foot-8, 6-foot-11 wingspan, 243 pounds
Strengths
- Chiseled frame with room to grow
- Unique combination of speed and power
- Natural athlete
- Got better as his freshman season went on
Weaknesses
- Raw on offense
- Not a great shooter
- Mental lapses on defense at times
Pro projection: While Stanley Johnson has all the tools you would want, the key word here is potential. Potential can be tempting, but also scary. While his combination of speed and power makes him a menace in the open court and in transition, that won’t mean much if he can’t get himself in those positions–a much harder task. He’s also a tweener and, at just 18 years old, he has room to grow. I wonder if he’ll look more like a power forward in a few years. To me, this is a boom or bust project. He could evolve into a steal-and-go nightmare for opposing offenses, or end up like Thomas Robinson.
