Measures: 6-foot-7, 7-foot-2 wingspan, 204 pounds
Strengths
- Smooth movements
- Natural shooter with nice stroke
- Room to grow in his frame
- Good instincts
- Tons of natural talent
Weaknesses
- Didn’t play a lot at Kansas
- Wasn’t a go-to option for his team
- Needs to improve his ball handling
- Struggles to create his own shot
Pro projection: When you are looking at the long, defensive minded small forwards who are in vogue–like Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Jimmy Butler–Kelly Oubre is the closest to those guys as you’ll get in this draft. He’s got all the talent in the world and should be able to contribute on defense while hitting a respectable amount of his jumpers right away. He won’t be someone a team could give the ball in ISO situations, but for a team with an established pecking order on offense, Oubre could slide right in and be a complementary piece while he fills out the rest of his game.
