Devin Booker, SG, Kentucky
Measures: 6-foot-6, 6-foot-6.25 wingspan, 206 pounds, 35.5 inch vertical
Strengths
- Natural shooter with great stroke
- Quick release
- Son of professional basketball player Melvin Booker
- Good height and frame
- Can shoot off the dribble
- Finds openings in the defense
- Willing passer
Weaknesses
- Despite nice height and frame, has a short wingspan
- Shooting stroke didn’t always translate (47 percent shooter, 41.1 percent from 3)
- Won’t play above the rim or out-athlete anyone
Pro projection: Booker is touted as the most natural shooter in the draft, though his 41.1 3-point shooting percentage isn’t jaw-dropping (keep in mind the college 3-point line is closer than in the NBA), it’s important to keep in mind that he attempted 3.7 3s per game. Here’s the thing with Booker, if he can knock down shots consistently in the NBA, he’ll have a spot as a floor spacer and a long career. If he can’t, he doesn’t offer much else and won’t be in the league long.
