2015-16 Season: Smith played in and started 77 games for the Cavs, averaging 12.4 points per game as the team’s resident gunner.
Contract Status: Smith has a player option for next season, and is expected to opt out and take advantage of the new salary cap. Teams are always in need of shooting, so he could be in line for a significant raise no matter where he goes.
Does He Fit In Miami? The league average of three point percentage was 35%, and the Heat finished the season at 33%, good for 27th of 30 teams. It would take some work, given that he has been a full-time starter for the past two years and probably would like to keep it that way. Smith, as mentioned above, shot 40% alone. So yes, Smith could fill a big role in the Heat roster, assuming he opts out.
