First 40-point Performance with the Heat
Stat Line: 40 points, 7 rebounds, 15-for-22 from the floor
While this turned out to be Bosh’s only game in Miami in which he logged 40 points or more, it was definitely a memorable night, and not all credit goes to CB for that. Denver came to Miami in a little bit of desperation mode, sporting an 0-2 record through two games. Attempting to avoid the feat of dropping to 0-3, it seemed that the Nuggets had Miami’s number through the first three quarters, even with Bosh connecting on 68 percent of his field goal attempts.
With James and Wade only combining for a mere 34 points, it was up to Bosh and the “others” to get the job done. After keeping the Heat afloat for much of the night, the final dagger came from none-other-than Walter Ray Allen. Down one with just under 20 seconds left, James received the ball at the top of the key and promptly began driving to his left. Allen popped free for a moment in the corner, and that four-point play was all she wrote.
Bosh and Allen combined for 63 points, and the Heat avoided a 1-2 start in dramatic fashion.
