1. Charlotte Hornets SF/PF Marvin Williams

Miami needs a starting-caliber power forward, preferably one with playoff experience. Marvin Williams fits the bill. Williams currently holds averages of 11.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 three-pointers per game. He’s shooting 41 percent from the floor and 35 perfect from deep. Further, he can defend opposing 3’s or 4’s. Adding another versatile defender to the roster is never a bad thing.

The Charlotte Hornets — Williams’ current team — shouldn’t be all that opposed to moving the stretch-4. They are currently 24-32, 1-9 in their last 10 games. Kemba Walker needs help, and, for a team like the Hornets, the best way to find it is through the NBA Draft. A subtle tank could be the smart way to go.

Not only that, but with second-year PF/C Frank Kaminsky starting to come on, they may want to give him a hard look as their starting 4 next to Cody Zeller.

Williams is currently under contract through 2020. His average salary is $13.6 million, which, in today’s market, is team-friendly.

To make a deal work, the Heat could offer the Hornets a mixture of Josh McRoberts, Luke Babbitt, Rodney McGruder or Willie Reed. Since this would be a lose-now move by Charlotte, the return wouldn’t really matter. What they would mostly care about is moving Williams to open up playing time for their young guys.
