5 under-the-radar players the Miami Heat could target at the NBA trade deadline

3. Los Angeles Lakers PG/SG Lou Williams
At every trade deadline, it feels like Lou Williams is consistently at the center of rumors.
This year is no different, and it makes even more sense than in seasons prior. He’s on the wrong side of 30, and on a team — the Los Angeles Lakers — with the future in mind. The Lakers only keep their 2017 first round pick if they finish top three in the lottery. (Meaning, they are tanking it.) So having Williams on their roster past Thursday would be illogical.
There appears to be high interest in Williams around the league. He’s currently averaging a career-high in points — at 18.6 per contest — and three-point percentage — shooting 39 percent from deep. The Washington Wizards and the aforementioned Cavs are just two of the teams linked with the former Sixth Man of the Year.
Despite the excellence of Tyler Johnson, James Johnson and Willie Reed, it wouldn’t hurt to add another efficient scorer off Miami’s bench.
Plus, Williams reportedly had interest in joining the Heat just two offseasons ago. And he’s under contract for the next two years, at a meager $7 million per. There are a variety of tangible reasons why acquiring Williams would be a shrewd move by Riley.
The Lakers allegedly want to add another young big man to their team. Perhaps an offer of Reed and McRoberts could be enough to get the two teams talking.
