Con: His best is now behind him

Much like death and taxes, Father Time is undefeated, he’s slowly setting his sights on Aldridge, who now finds himself on the wrong side of 30.

He’s coming off of a season in which he averaged his third-lowest points per game rate of his career while also boasting his lowest rebounding average since his rookie year.

His percentages from three-point range are certainly impressive, but keep in mind that over the course of 72 games played, Aldridge took less than one three per game (0.8) and made less than half of one per game (0.3).

Not quite a volume shooter from that range, and I doubt that will change, even in a system such as Miami’s.

Aldridge is also coming off a series in which he scored over 20 just once in four games, and against an undersized team like the Golden State Warriors, that is not a good sign.

After totaling 28 points in Game 1, Aldridge averaged just 11.3 points per game over the course of the next three games while shooting just 38 percent from the field.

For Miami to reach competitor”status, it needs consistent scoring from outside, and judging by Aldridge’s latest tape, his days of scoring 20 per night may be behind him.
