The Good, Bad and Miami Heat Culture: Richardson for Most Improved Player?
The Culture
Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union welcome new baby
The Culture in these past two weeks starts with Dwyane Wade, as he and his wife, Gabrielle Union, welcomed a new baby into their family via a surrogate.
After this announcement, Wade’s #OneLastDance video made a whole lot more sense, as welcoming a new baby could only have made his decision to return that much more difficult. But given the fact that he is retiring after this season, it could only be that much more exciting for him and his family to have a new part of their life begin.
The rift in Heat Twitter
Right now, there seems to be a divide within #HeatTwitter, as to what is best for #TheCulture. As I mentioned in The Bad, I think that tanking would only tarnish the resilience that is the Culture.
However, there are a lot of fans that want to see the team take this route and turn to a ‘Trust the Process’ mentality that the Philadelphia 76ers rode on for a few years. I have seen people point to the 76ers as a model for getting the team back on track in the next few years, but I don’t think it is necessary.
The Heat have a good, young core right now in Richardson, Bam Adebayo and Justice Winslow.
One of the biggest issues with the team resides in contracts, with Tyler Johnson and Whiteside taking up so much cap space. After this season, there might be more opportunities to move one or both of them around and with that, get some new players that can help this team grow without the same huge contract commitments.
This can all be done without tanking.
Still, I am one out of many people with lots of opinions on the subject.
We will just have to see what the next few months hold for this team.
Onto the next week, for the Miami Heat.
