No. 2 – Trade idea sending Wayne Ellington to the Utah Jazz

In this trade idea, Wayne Ellington would be traded to the Utah Jazz for veteran wing Thabo Sefolosha and a 2022 unprotected first round pick.

The Jazz recently traded Alec Burks and two second round picks (one from Washington) to the Cleveland Cavaliers for one of the best 3-point shooters of all time in Kyle Korver, but the 38-year-old stll needs help.

The Jazz’ young star Donovan Mitchell and defensive stud Rudy Gobert need help on the offensive end, and Wayne Ellington could be the answer that would potentially take over for Korver off the bench next season, and also help the Jazz secure a spot in the Western playoff standings.

As for Miami, this is a no-brainer, if you can get a first round pick for Ellington and the rest of your shooting guards/3-and-D wings are healthy, you move him immediately. Moreover, Thabo Sefolosha (1-year left on contract) is a fun pick up for the Heat, who could use the veteran off the bench in some important defensive minutes, when needed.

If Utah intends to offer a similar deal to the one they sent to Cleveland for Korver, I still do that if I’m Miami, but I think it’s possible they offer up a first as we get closer to the February 7th deadline.

Our next trade is with a team that desperately needs a move, like now.
