Alec Burks, Cleveland Cavaliers

Alec Burks is going to be a free agent this summer and will most likely sign elsewhere after being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers only a month ago.

The Utah Jazz decided to move on from their 27-year-old wing due to the fact that he struggled with injuries and his inconsistency to stay healthy prolonged his fate until it was too late. And while the wing obviously has potential and is showing glimpses of a starting caliber player for the Cavs, he hasn’t had the right situation surrounding him when healthy.

Let’s just say he was supposed to be Donovan Mitchell before Donovan Mitchell, and Utah was done with waiting around for a guy they signed to a lengthy deal.

There is a world where the swap of Wayne Ellington and Rodney McGruder for Alec Burks could potentially work for Miami, as they really want out of their current logjam and the addition of Burks could give Miami a solid 10-15 minutes a game off the bench, even when Goran Dragic returns.

Moreover, he would be a great replacement player for some of Dwyane Wade’s minutes once he retires this summer.
