Mike Conley, Memphis Grizzlies

Has there been a better guard to not make an All-Star team in recent memory?

The Memphis Grizzlies have had their own Goran Dragic in Mike Conley for years, and luckily for Dragic, he made his first All-Star game last year. And with that being the second year of Dragic’s Eastern Conference career, that is probably telling for why Conley hasn’t made an All-Star team during his career in Memphis, as the West is ridiculously filled with superstar talent at each position.

It is quite possible that if Conley would have played on the Heat for the entirety of his career, he could have 3-5 All-Star nods by now, which could be said for Dragic as well.

The Grizzlies have decided to move on from Conley and Gasol via Adrian Wojnarowski, so making a move for at least one of these guys makes sense for any team fighting for a playoff spot just as the Heat are right now. Conley already fits the grittiness and culture in the Heat locker room, which is essentially full of misfits that nobody really wants to pay, for better or worse.

It would all be up to how much Miami is willing to give up for the former 2rd team All-Defensive guard, and also how much Memphis wants for Conley, who has had another All-Star like year on a team that won’t make the playoffs and can’t give Conley the option of making his first All-Star game.

It is crazy that Conley has the potential to never make an All-Star team, I wonder what this guy would have done if he played his whole career for a team like the San Antonio Spurs? Which is again, what I think about Dragic and his career.
