The Culture

Forgive me if this entire section is about one single shot over the past two weeks, but Wade hitting the game-winning shot over the Warriors was a highlight — and the best one so far — of this season.

That was one of the last big-time moments fans will ever see from Wade, simply because this season is it. Could he hit another game-winner before the season is over? Of course. Will there be at least a few more very memorable moments? I would like to think so.

But I am not quite sure anything will beat that. It was special.

Dion Waiters giving up the ball (!!!) to Wade, the attempted shot before throwing it up and the ball banking off the glass at the buzzer, Wade’s reaction of disbelief, everyone on the team running to him as he ran to the scorers’ table, Wade jumping on the table to recreate that iconic ‘This is My House’ moment against the Chicago Bulls in 2009.

There were so many moments in that one shot and the minutes that followed that will be remembered by anyone who watched it, especially Heat fans, for a long, long time.

Those moments are what this season is about. Whether the Heat make the playoffs or not, no one will remember this season by the ‘who is to blame?’ debates, or Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington being traded.

What will be remembered is the ride of #OneLastDance and what it meant to Heat fans and to the City of Miami.
