Along with bringing in Butler, they were also able to move on from Hassan Whiteside. This was ironically all apart of the same deal, a deal that also brought in Meyers Leonard from the Portland Trail Blazers, the team in which Hassan Whiteside landed with.

Along with the acquisitions of Butler and Leonard, they also seemingly found a gem at the number 13 pick with Tyler Herro out of Kentucky. While he has yet to play in an NBA regular-season game, he lit up the NBA Summer League and continues to light up the internet with dazzling displays of his abilities, most recently a shooting exhibition he put on in a shooting drill.

Along with landing Herro, the Miami Heat were able to acquire the long and athletic KZ Okpala out of Stanford. While many projected Okpala to be a mid to late first-round NBA Draft pick throughout the process and leading up to the draft, the Miami Heat were able to secure him using a second-round pick that they had acquired just days before the actual draft took place. It is said that because the deal could not become official until after the NBA Summer League kicked off, that Okpala was not able to compete with the Miami Heat in the league.

While Okpala was not able to compete, the Miami Heat did have other guys besides Herro to set themselves apart. These players were Duncan Robinson and Kendrick Nunn. While Nunn was named to the First Team All-League for his showing, Robinson also showed out as well. It is expected that both will have a good shot to make the regular-season roster.

So in thinking about and digesting what the Miami Heat have accomplished this off-season, it is truly a mouth full. That doesn’t mean they are finished though.
