Attempt upwards of 300 3-pointers

This might be the most arduous task for Leonard, as his top three career highs in 3-pointers taken are 228, 213 and 112 respectively. These highs came when he played 1,333, 1,222 and 847 total minutes respectively, which might be hard to come by in a somewhat crowded Miami frontcourt that contains the aforementioned Adebayo and Olynyk, as well as Johnson, Derrick Jones Jr., KZ Okpala, Yante Maten and possibly even Chris Silva, Kyle Alexander or Udonis Haslem pending other roster moves.

However, if Leonard can establish himself as the backup center for this Miami Heat team he will be in line to get around that number of minutes played. In the year he shot 228 3-pointers, he only shot around 435 field goals period, meaning that around 52 percent of his shots were 3-pointers.

If you compare this to last year’s backup center, at least for the majority of the year, Adebayo took 486 shots in 1913 minutes. If Leonard can earn himself even 1500 minutes next season, achieving a career-high in 3-pointers taken is definitely within reach.

As for the consistency in those shots, that will be the likely determining factor in whether or not Leonard earns a new long-term contract next summer. Leonard is a dead-eye shooter from deep though, as he has shot 38.5 percent from that range for his career, so it seems Leonard has nothing to worry about in that regard.
