Let’s improve in clutch situations
Last season, the Miami Heat have had 45 games that were considered in clutch situations. They had a record of 21-24. The only reason and I mean the only reason why they even got to the 21 wins was as a result of defense and certainly not their offense.
As discussed previously, Miami has a terrible offense but their offense in a clutch situation is much worse. Here are some stats that show the abysmal offense:
- 7.1 points – 28th
- 39.0 percent from the field – 28th
- 21.2 percent from downtown – 30th
- 66.4 percent from the strip – 29th
- 48.1 percent true shooting – 30th
- 1.1 turnovers – 20th
- 94.7 offensive rating – 30th
Dead last in three categories, second to last in one of them, third to last in the other two and one 10th worst. That is not acceptable. This is a joke, simple as that. They compensated that by having a top-five defense and bringing the opponent’s efficiency near their level.
Again, the answer is Jimmy Butler. Here are Butler’s stats in the clutch: 36 games played with a record of 21-15. In those 36 games, Butler’s efficiency is 45.0 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from downtown, and 78.0 percent from the line.
Can you imagine that Butler shoots almost the same from downtown as the Heat from the floor?
We all know what Butler is capable and if you don’t, have a look at these moments from last season.
I think these speak for themselves. This is what Jimmy “Bucket” Butler will give whenever the Miami Heat is in clutch situations.
With these key goals for the Miami Heat, if they are able to meet them, then every team in the East should be scared and have to look out for them. If not, Butler may have shot a game-winner on your favorite team.
